FIRST Tech Challenge Competition

Shroyer Gym
On Friday, Feb 2, the FIRST Tech Challenge competition will be held in Shroyer Gym and open to the public from 10:30am - 5pm.
The FIRST Tech Challenge teams (up to 15 team members, grades 7-12) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. Guided by adult coaches and mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles, while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and working as a team.

These teams utilize CAD programs, CNC machines, and additive 3D printing to build their robots. The spectator portion of the tournament will begin with the opening ceremony scheduled for 10:30am, followed by robot game matches until approximately 5pm (with an hour lunch break around 12noon.)

FIRST Lego League Program

Norm Asbjornson Hall
Friendly competition is at the heart of FIRST Lego League Challenge, as teams of students ages 9-16 (grades 4-8) engage in research, problem-solving, coding and engineering – building and programming a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game. As part of Challenge, teams also participate in a research project to identify and solve a relevant real-world problem. Again, the spectator portion of this competition will begin at approximately 10:30am.
